As long as I have power and control in my hands, I will not give up one centimeter of Israeli land, Naftali Bennett

In Israel: Bye bye BiBi , who got a place in the new cabinet

Global New News Desk -

Twelve years later, Benjamin Netanyahu stepped down as Israel's prime minister. Amid the country's political turmoil, right-wing Jew Naftali Bennett has been named the new prime minister.

A new coalition government of seven right-wing and center-right parties was approved by the Israeli parliament's Knesset by 60-55 votes on Sunday afternoon. The session lasted for about four hours.

The Israeli political establishment has been in turmoil for several days. Anger against Netanyahu was growing.

Netanyahu lost Sunday's vote. 59 votes were cast in his favor. Only one more vote against. After that, Netanyahu's opponents in Tel Aviv's Robin Square rejoiced. ‘Bye bye BiBi’ (his supporters used to call Netanyahu ‘King BiBi’) was filled with posters all around.

Netanyahu, 61, said after his ouster that "opposition was our destiny. As long as we do not remove this bad government and regain power in the country, we will carry out our responsibilities with our heads held high. "

Meanwhile, according to an agreement signed between the coalition partners on Friday, Naftali Bennett, the leader of the hardline nationalist party Yamina, will be prime minister for the next two years, until August 2023. He will then have to hand over power to moderate politician Yar Lapid, who was instrumental in forming the new coalition.

With the change of power in Israel, two questions are now emerging - how long will this coalition last, and what will be the position of this new government on the Israeli-Palestinian crisis?

Who is this Naftali Bennett?

Considering the political ideology of the new Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett, his beliefs, his past statements on the Palestinian crisis, there is no reason for the Palestinians to be optimistic.

Naftali Bennett, 49, was once very close to Netanyahu. He has been Netanyahu's chief of staff for two years since 2008. In 2006, however, Netanyahu's monomalignment was formed with him, and he left the Likud party to join the hardline Jewish party, the Jewish Home Party, and in 2013 was elected the first MP.

He has nothing to do with his far-right ideology. He boasted at various times that he was more right-wing than Netanyahu. Most of the time, like the very pious Jews, they wear a kipa (a kind of hat) on their head. Liberal Jews ridicule whenever they get a chance.

In fact, Bennett is a symbol of Jewish nationalism and nationalism.

'Settler Leader'

He is in favor of Israel's permanent authority and sovereignty over the occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem and the occupied Golan Heights from Syria. Like the orthodox Jews, he believed that historically these areas belonged to Israel and that is why he always referred to the West Bank as Judea-Samaria in the Hebrew Bible.

On the other hand, Bennett, 49, was elected prime minister. We will represent the whole of Israel.

He is a staunch supporter of the expansion of Jewish settlements in the West Bank. At one point he was head of the Yesha Council, an organization of Jewish settlers. People know him as the 'leader of the settlers'.

He is a staunch opponent of an independent Palestinian state. At various times, he has described the Palestinian problem as Israel's "poison to the West."

In a televised interview in February, Naftali Bennett said, "As long as I have power and control, I will not give up one centimeter of Israeli land.
