Naftali Bennett's new government is being formed

Benjamin Netanyahu on his way to Israel:

Global New News Desk -

Benjamin Netanyahu on his way to Israel. The new government of Naftali Bennett is being formed, and there is very little consensus among these parties on political issues. Except for one thing - the removal of Benjamin Netanyahu, the country's longest-serving prime minister.

Mr. Netanyahu is on trial for corruption. He failed to get a final majority in the general election held last March.

It was the fourth general election in the country in the last two years, after which he failed to find allies to form an alliance.

Netanyahu's 12-year rule ends,

Opposition parties in Israel have agreed to form a new government, paving the way for the end of Benjamin Netanyahu's 12-year rule as prime minister.

There, eight parties have been able to form a coalition government. Yair Lapid, leader of the moderate Yesh Atid party, made the announcement.

According to the agreement, Naftali Bennett, head of the right-wing Yamina party, will be prime minister at the outset. He will then hand over the responsibility to Yair Lapid.

Before the government is sworn in, there must be a vote in parliament.

To unite all sections of Israeli society,

Yair Lapid said in a statement that he had briefed President Reuven Rivlin on the coalition agreement.

"I promise that this government will serve all Israelis - those who voted for it, and those who did not," he said.

"This government will respect its opponents and do everything in its power to unite all sections of Israeli society."

It was very important to reach an agreement,

A picture has surfaced in the Israeli media showing Yair Lapid, Naftali Bennett and Islamist Ram Party leader Mansour Abbas signing an agreement. Many thought such an agreement was impossible.

Mansoor Abbas told reporters that the decision was very difficult. "There have been some divisions, but it was very important to reach an agreement."

Yair Lapid told President Reuven Rivlin that Mr. Bennett and he will run the government together.

The fifth election in two years,

On August 27, 2023, he will take over as Prime Minister from Naftali Bennett.

Mr. Rivlin called on parliament to hold a confidence vote as soon as possible. However, if the coalition does not win support in parliament, Israel may need to hold elections for the fifth time in two years.
