Global New News Desk -

The Taliban also have A-29 Super Tukano aircraft ranging from Black Hawk helicopters. The Taliban have taken control of one state after another in Afghanistan. The rapid decline of Afghan security forces came after the withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan. In such a scenario, billions of dollars worth of US weapons and military equipment are now in the hands of the Taliban. These weapons and military equipment range from Black Hawk helicopters to A-29 Super Tukano aircraft.

The United States has said it has spent আট 8 trillion over the past 20 years training and arming Afghan security forces. But their training and weapons did not deter the Taliban from attacking, and a significant number of members of the Afghan security forces, trained by US forces, joined the Taliban.

According to the US Government Accountability Office's 2016 data, the United States delivered 85,696 vehicles to Afghanistan; 5,99,690 weapons; It provided 1,82,743 communications equipment, 206 aircraft and helicopters, and 16,191 intelligence and surveillance equipment. These weapons and military equipment were provided between 2003 and 2016.

In addition, 7,035 machine guns were delivered to Afghanistan from 2016 to 2019; 4,602 Humvees; 20,040 hand grenades; Washington has dropped 2,520 bombs and 1,394 grenade launchers.

After the Taliban took full control of Afghanistan, they replaced the widely used AK-47 rifles with US-made M-4 carbines and M-16 rifles. Also, the Taliban's U.S. Humvee and Mine Resistance Ambush were seen in protected vehicles. Analysts say having US weapons in the hands of the Taliban means they are psychologically victorious.

Forty-six of the planes and helicopters delivered to Afghanistan are now in Uzbekistan. After the fall of the capital Kabul to the Taliban, about 500 Afghan troops fled to Uzbekistan using the aircraft. The rest is in the hands of the Taliban. Source: Parstude.
