The head of Britain's military says the rescue operation for civilians from Afghanistan is coming to an end today. General Sir Nick Carter said some flights from Kabul were still leaving for the UK, but the number was very low. He said it was heartbreaking that not everyone was rescued in the end. Many Afghans who are fit to come to Britain from Afghanistan have to be left there.





After the Taliban took control of Kabul in Emas, various countries started mass rescue operations from there. The British Ministry of Defense said it had rescued 14,543 people since August 13.





In an interview with the BBC's Today program, Sir Nick Carter said: "We are nearing the end of our rescue operation. It will be over by today (Saturday).




When the rescue operation was in full swing, there were about a thousand British troops there. However, some of these troops have left Afghanistan.




US warning


The U.S. embassy has again warned U.S. citizens against using the Kabul airport. In a warning issued a few hours ago, the US embassy in Afghanistan said they should avoid going to the airport and not use any gates at the airport. Those already waiting at various entrances to the airport have been asked to leave immediately.





The Taliban has claimed control of parts of Kabul airport, but the United States has denied the allegations.





IS (Islamic State of Khorasan Province) claimed responsibility for Thursday's attack on Kabul airport.
