Windows Server 2022 has been launched by software giant Microsoft. The US company unveiled the new server before the full version of Windows 11 was released.

Windows Server 2012, code-named "Windows Server 7", is the sixth release of Windows Server. It is the server version of Windows 7 and the successor to Windows Server 2008 R2. During its development a developer preview and a beta version, a total of two previews were released. The software was made available to the public on September 4, 2012.

Microsoft introduced Windows Server 2012 and its developers at the Build 2011 conference on September 9, 2011. However, unlike Windows 7, Windows Server 2012 and its developer pre-promotion are only made available to MSDN subscribers. Based on the Metro design language, it included a graphical user interface (GUI) and a new graphical application for server management, Server Manager. On February 18, 2012, Microsoft Developer released an update to the pre-promotion build, which extended the expiration date from April 6, 2012 to January 15, 2013.


Before the finalization of Windows Server 2012, two test configurations were made public. A public beta version of Windows Server 2012 was released on February 29, 2012, along with a public pre-release version of Windows 8. On May 31, 2012, with the release pre-release version of Windows 8, the unveiling of Windows Server 2012 was announced.


The product was released for production on August 1, 2012 and is generally available on September 4, 2012. However, not all versions of Windows Server 2012 were released at the same time. Windows Server 2012 Essentials was released on October 9, 2012 and is generally available on November 1, 2012. From September 23, 2012, all students enrolled in the DreamSpark program can download the Windows Server 2012 Standard or Datacenter version for free.

 

Windows Server 2022

Microsoft Windows Server 2022 is being considered in the same way as the 21H2 version was released for Windows 10. According to Microsoft, Standard, Datacenter and Datacenter: Azure Edition - these three versions will match Windows Server 2022. The original version of the new server will expire on 13 October 2027 and the extended version will expire on 14 October 2031.


However, the Long Term Servicing Channel (LTSC) version will have five years of general support and a decade of extended support. Windows Server 2022 features nested virtualization for AMD processors, HTTPS DNS features, and strong encryption features for SMBs. However, the idea is that every two-three years, Microsoft will release a new version of Windows Server.
