BTRC; The new service price of IIG and NTTN is effective on September 1

Global New News Desk -

The new service price of IIG and NTTN is effective from September 1. The service price (tariff) has been fixed almost 12 years after the launch of International Internet Gateway (IIG) and underground cable service NTTN service.

BTRC, the telecom regulator, announced the new tariff at a press conference on Thursday. Posts and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa Jabbar inaugurated the tariff.

BTRC Director General (Systems and Services) Brigadier General Nasim Parvez highlighted various issues related to the value proposition of NTTN, IIG through multimedia presentation through Virtual.

It was informed at the function that in case of new pricing, IIGs will have to acquire the capacity to provide services in each district by next December, so that ISPs can take connection from the district.

Earlier in June, the BTRC had fixed a monthly fee for broadband internet connection from village to city and across the country. But the Internet service providers (ISPs) have been talking about problems in the implementation of IIG and NTTN due to lack of pricing.

NTTNs provide services in a few steps. The price has been fixed by BTRC for providing area based services. In the metro area (6 divisional cities and city corporation areas) the minimum 10 Mbps service is taka 200 to taka 300 per Mbps, in Langhal (for long distances like Dhaka to Chittagong) taka 400 to taka 500 and in the surrounding districts taka 200 to taka 300.

The service charge is tied to 15 slabs;

Besides, in case of maximum 100 Gbps service, 13 to 14 rupees per Mbps in Metro, 25 to 26 rupees in Longhal and 13 to 15 rupees in adjoining districts. NTTNs are priced in 16 steps (minimum 10 Mbps and maximum 100 Gbps) for service delivery.

According to the press conference, Internet Service Providers (ISPs) will now be able to offer services at about 90 per cent lower prices after the operators set the service price at the beginning. This new price will be effective from 1 September.

For BTRC IIGs, the bandwidth price is fixed at 11 slabs in different volumes and the service price is fixed at 15 slabs according to the volume of transmission capacity for NTTNs.

It said it was a backhaul (capacity-based) tariff for private NTTNs for IIGs and ISPAs for providing broadband internet services. In addition, the price of ISP in 3 slabs was 5 Mbps 500 rupees, 10 Mbps 600 rupees and 20 Mbps 1,200 rupees.

Mustafa Jabbar said, ‘This pricing has taken Digital Bangladesh one step further. Today's announcement has made it easier to implement 'One Country One Rate' internet across the country. After the announcement of 'One Country One Rate' internet on June 8, there were problems in its implementation. It will no longer exist. '

He said that the service price that has been fixed is for broadband internet. He also called upon the concerned parties to fix the service charges of IIG and NTTN for mobile operators.

Mustafa Jabbar said at the time that there were hundreds of complaints against mobile operators over call drop and network problems. Ordinary people are complaining. Operators have to take cognizance of these problems.

Teletalk has taken on a project;

Special guest on the occasion, Secretary of Posts and Telecommunications. Afzal Hossain said, "We will be able to launch Five-G network by 2021." That's why Teletalk has taken a project.

BTRC Chairman Shyam Sundar Sikder presided over the function and spoke on the occasion. BTRC Vice Chairman Subrata Roy Maitra, BTCL Managing Director Rafiqul Matin, NTTN Summit Communications Limited Managing Director Arif Al Islam, ISPAB President Aminul Hakim, Aminig Hakim.
