For all these reasons, he rejected Mamata Banerjee's plea to withdraw the case and asked her to pay a fine of Rs 5 lakh.


However, the verdict also mentioned that he is resigning from the case.


As for his cause, the judge says, the controversy will not stop if he does not withdraw from the case.


After the verdict, Sheikh Sufian, Mamata Banerjee's election agent in Nandigram, said: "The matter of fines is never accepted. We have been fined for applying for removal of the case. We will go to the Supreme Court against this fine."
